In a major success for security forces, the troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have apprehended a suspected member of the Boko Haram terrorist group in Taraba State.

6 Brigade Army Public Relations , disclosed this in Jalingo in a statement he signed and made a copy to The Reporters on Tuesday.
He added that on January 26, 2025, acting on credible intelligence, the troops tracked down and arrested one Gambo Grema, also known as Gamboi, in Mai-Hula town, Bali Local Government Area.
According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that Gamboi was part of a Boko Haram syndicate deployed to the region to engage in kidnapping for ransom and establish a new terrorist cell.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, while reacting to the development,emphasized that the operation marked a significant step in the ongoing efforts to neutralize terrorism and ensure the safety of citizens.
He reiterated the army’s commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region, urging the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely information.
Our correspondent reports that the success of Operation Golden Peace underscores the ongoing resolve of Nigeria’s military to dismantle terrorist networks and protect local communities from harm.
