The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has ordered the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID) to take over the investigation into the death of Jimoh Abdulquadri, who died in police custody in Kwara State on December 20, 2024.
During a condolence visit to the bereaved family in Ilorin on December 22, 2024, the IGP met with family members at the residence of Alhaji Sadiq Atiku Fulani, the Balogun Fulani of Ilorin.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Alhaji Fulani expressed their grief and concerns over the incident.
In a statement released by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP expressed his heartfelt condolences, promising a thorough and impartial investigation.
“No stone will be left unturned in uncovering the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident,” Egbetokun assured, adding that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to justice, professionalism, and respect for human rights.
The IGP also reiterated the Force’s zero-tolerance policy for misconduct, urging the public to remain calm as the investigation unfolds.
He stressed the importance of due process, promising accountability for any wrongdoing uncovered during the probe.
