Tragedy on Ore Bridge: Truck Crash Claims Lives of Three Policemen, Female Suspect

A routine arrest mission turned tragic in Ondo State on Friday when a speeding truck lost control and rammed into a police vehicle, killing three policemen and a female suspect in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area.

Our correspondent gathered that the accident occurred as the truck descended the Ore Bridge, colliding with the vehicle carrying officers from the monitoring unit of the Police Command in Ondo state.

Sources told The Reporters that the team had departed Akure to apprehend the female suspect in Ore before the fatal crash.

Eyewitnesses reported the horrifying scene.

“With the heavy noise from the crash, people rushed to the scene. Sadly, three officers died on the spot, while one was injured and taken to the hospital,” a source ,who would not his identity disclosed said.

The female suspect, identified as the target of the arrest, also succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Ondo State, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the incident, stating that the command is preparing an official statement as at the time of this report on Saturday morning.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has also promised to release a detailed report on the tragic accident.

This incident underscores the dangers faced by law enforcement officers in the line of duty, adding a somber tone to the ongoing issue of road safety in the region.
