Lokoja
The Kogi State Government on Friday,lifted the lockdown it placed on Kabba local government Area about three days ago.
Governor Yahaya Bello lifted the lockdown during a news briefing in Lokoja.
He said that the lockdown was occasioned by the need to be responsive to the alleged case of a reported case of COVID-19.
Bello, however,noted that the test conducted came out negative, adding that contact tracing was carried which also tested negative.
He added that more samples had been taken and would be sent to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
Duaglobalnews recalls that the lockdown on the local government was prompted by the revelation,few days ago, by NCDC that, kogi had recorded two cases of Coronavirus which broke out in Wuhan in China December 2019.
Before NCDC announcement, only kogi and Cross River states had remained without COVID-19 case in the country.
On the recent judgement by a Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja which placed Lokoja Kotonkarfe and Ajaokutal Local Government Areas under the Igala kingdom, the governor called on the people of the state to maintain peace.
Bello, however, reassured them that his government, in its policies and programmes, would continue to shun tribalism, ethnicity, sectionalism and other divisive expressions retarding the progress of the state.
