Residents of Kwararafa Community in Lokoja have expressed deep gratitude to Governor Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo for providing a transformer that has restored electricity to their area after months of darkness.

The community, which had been without reliable power for the past three months, saw their plight addressed after Dr. Usman Ogbo, Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja, brought their concerns to the attention of the Governor.

Without hesitation, Governor Ododo approved the release of a brand new transformer, which was promptly installed and connected to the Ajaokuta Power supply.

While the new transformer has brought steady electricity to the community, elated residents thanked the governor but requested an additional transformer which they said would handle the heavy load and prevent overloading, which has led to occasional power cuts.

Previously, the community faced power shortages due to the strain on the single transformer provided by the government.

Our correspondent gathered that the situation improved significantly after the construction of the Kwararafa Community road during the administration of former Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello, which spurred rapid development and increased electricity demands.

Residents, while appreciating Governor Ododo’s intervention, also urged the state government and well-meaning individuals to provide another transformer to complement the current one and ensure uninterrupted power supply.

The community also appealed for the extension of the greater Lokoja Water network through reticulation.

They expressed optimism that this would further enhance their living conditions and sustain the development brought about by recent infrastructure projects.

Residents thanked Governor Ododo for his timely intervention and expressed appreciation for his administration’s commitment to addressing their needs amidst other competing demands.

They also acknowledged the efforts of Commissioner for Rural Development and the Managing Director of Kogi State Road Maintenance Agency (KOGROMA) for promptly implementing the Governor’s approvals, which facilitated the delivery of the transformer and the repair of their road.
