Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State.
There are indications that residents of Lokoja and Okene Local Government Areas of Kogi State, north central Nigeria, who have been been experiencing scarcity of potable water for some months now, will soon smile.

This follows the receipt of chemicals, by the state government, for the treatment of water and resumption of supply of drinkable water to the residents of the two areas.
The Commissioner for Water Resources,Engr. Yahaya MD Farouk, made the disclosure in Lokoja while monitoring the release of chemicals for the treatment of water to Okene Water Works and old Lokoja Water Works.
Farouk, in his remarks at the occasion, said the governor of the state, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, was very much concerned about the need to resume the provision of potable and clean water to Lokoja,Okene and other parts of the state.
He assured that no stone would be left unturned in ensuring that the potable water is delivered to the doorsteps of the people of the state.
The Commissioner, who described the water challenge in the state as one of concerns to Governor Ododo, said arrangements for the old Lokoja Water Works and Okene Water Works to begin supply of water has been concluded.
The Commissioner added that though the Old Lokoja Water Works might not be able to supply the whole state capital, “efforts for palliative measures to supply other parts of Lokoja not covered by the Old Water Works is ongoing to cater for their needs.”
The Commissioner disclosed that the current delivery of Water Treatment Chemicals for both the Lokoja Old Waterworks and Okene Waterworks was a testament to Governor Ododo’s commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises to provide water for the people.
He reiterated that”the determination of the state government to ensure that the people of the state have access to clean and potable water,by Governor Ododo, is not negotiable.”
