Three persons lost their lives on saturday and one survived when a Sienna bus plunged into RIVER ON IJEBU-ODE- ORE EXPRESSWAY in Ogun state.
Chief Route Commander, Florence Okpe,who is the FRSC Public Education Officer for Sector Commander FRSC, Ogun Sector Command, disclosed this in a statement she signed in Abeokuta and a copy made available to The Reporters on Sunday.
According to her, the crash occurred at about 1155hrs on saturday on Ijebu-ode – Ore expressway with uncertain number of persons travelling in the bus
Okpe,however, confirmed that one of them got injured and 03 persons found death,all male adults,
in the said vehicle with registration number APP830HX.
“The suspected cause of the lone crash was excessive speed which led to lose of control and the vehicle plunged into Omo river.
“The injured victim was taken to Hope Clinic J4 for medical attention while the corpses were deposited at the state General Hospital morgue, Ijebu-ode,” she said.
Commenting on the tragedy,the Sector Commander, FRSC Ogun Sector Command, CC ANTHONY UGA described the crash as an avoidable one if caution was considered.
He expressed concern on speed violation on the route where the accident occured, especially the commercial vehicle drivers on that route as indicated by the RTC data.
The Sector Commander appreciated the effort of the local divers for the rescue operation and sympathized with the family of the victims and advised them to contact FRSC OGBERE out post for more information about the crash.
