This little boy, whose age is estimated to be four years according to sources, was found begging for alms at the popular Ganaja junction,Lokoja,Kogi State, north central Nigeria, on Saturday.
As soon as our as our correspondent disembarked from kekenapep at the junction, the little boy approached him, begging for alms while his mother was few metres away watching him keenly.

People around the area noted that the little boy and his mother, seen with another baby, were regular beggars at the junction.

The boy could hardly make any audible statement beyond stretching hands to from passersby for money.

Efforts to interview the mother proved as she was not ready to speak with our correspondent.

However, those who spoke with The Reporters in the area,on the issue, expressed worry over what they described as the growing number of childre begging for alms in Lokoja and its environs recently.

The people who identified poverty and lack of education as some of the factors responsible for such development, stressed the need for government, complemented by non governmental organisations,NGO’s to check the high level of poverty in the society.
