Former Nigerian Military President General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB), has commiserated with the people of Mokwa and the entire Niger State over the devastating flood disaster that has claimed at least 161 lives in Mokwa Local Government Area.

General Babangida expressed his condolences on Friday when he received a Sallah homage from a delegation of the Niger State Government led by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba, at his uphill residence in Minna.

Describing the incident as tragic and deeply unfortunate, the elder statesman said the flash flood was an act of God, urging citizens to intensify prayers for the repose of the souls lost.

He commended the administration of Governor Umaru Bago for its developmental efforts and called for sustained progress. Babangida reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at improving Niger State and Nigeria as a whole.

Earlier, the Deputy Governor ,Yakubu Garba, said the delegation visited to seek Babangida’s fatherly blessings and wise counsel during the Sallah festivities.

He acknowledged the former president’s concern over the recent tragedy and appreciated his constant support and guidance.

“Your dedication and contributions to the growth of our state and country are not forgotten. You remain a pillar of hope, and we assure you of our unwavering support,” Garba said.

The Deputy Governor was accompanied by some members of the State Executive Council, after observing the Eid prayer at the Minna Eid ground.
