The seeming reciding nature of flood in some parts of Lokoja, kogi State, not withstanding, boat and canoe operators continued the sway in transportation of humans at the Ganaja axis of Lokoja-Ganaja road as the road remained submerged by flood.

Our Correspondent who visited the road on Sunday reports that boat and canoe drivers were seen seeking for passengers to ferry across for onward journey to the eastern part of the state and the country at large at N100 per trip.

Some of the indigenes of the village, who spoke with our Correspondent in separate interview, said though the volume of flood in 2022 was far more than that of 2012,the flood had commenced receding, adding that the road would be cleared of flood within the next one week or thereabout.

Our Correspondent further reports that the area has turned to emergency commercial area where sellers bring commodities such as soft drinks, ground buts,kuni, assorted provision and soup ingredients,POS, among others for brisk business.

However, victims of the flood in the state signed relief on Friday as the state government flagged-off distribution of relief materials meant for them, courtesy of the National Emergency Management Agency,NEMA.

Some personnel of the Nigeria Police (marine) were seen with life jacket, watching conduct of boat and canoe drivers as well as ensuring security of life and prosperity.
