By Dada Ahmed in Lokoja.

As the All Progressives Congress (APC) puts final touches to its planned primaries nation wide, women from kogi West Senatorial district on Monday stagged a rally, demanding from the Governor Yahaha Bello to give them woman Senatorial slot.

This they said would pave way for Chief (Mrs) Adedoyin Ibikunle Eshanumi,a Senatorial aspirant on the platform of APC,to contest primary election, pull her weight at Senatorial election and if she wins, represents the district at the upper chamber.

The Reporters reports that kogi state has never had woman representation in the Senate since it’s creation on August 27,1991 as well as the down of the democratic dispensation in the country.

They added that giving them the slot would be in line with Bello’s genda balance policy and ensure that women in the district contribute effectively to political development of the state and country at large.

Speaking with our Correspondent, shortly after rally, one of the women, Shade Jaiyeyeni, said women in the district threw their weight behind Chief Eshanumi because ” they see her as “is a role model and a caring mother who has the passion for the bdevelopment of humanity at heart.”

According to her, the aspirant has helped many youths, women and widows to make life meaningful, adding that she had assisted more than 10 youths to secure permanent jobs at the federal government level.

“Chief Eshanumi is known to be a lover of people and always ready to uplift them with her resources to ease their financial and other burdens.

“If our genda sensitive Governor Yahaha Bello gives us woman slot and Chief Eshanumi wins Senate seat, she will do more for the people of the state than her current efforts, especially for the grassroots,”she said.
