Gss Afon Old Students Converge in Ilorin for 45th anniversary of alma mater

The old students of Gss Afon in Kwara state, on Thursday, converged in Ilorin, the state capital, also known as the State of Harmony, to commence two-day action packed social activities to mark the 45th anniversary of their alma mater and concretise their reunion.

Our Correspondent, who is one of the first graduates of school, reports that many of the old students from many states of the federation, FCT and abroad such as the United States of America among others, were seen in nostalgic feelings and warm embracement, snapping group pictures and thanking God for His sustainance and protection.

The programme of events available to The Reporters,an online publication, shows that the old students will kick-off the event on Friday from Kwara Hotel, Ilorin, where they would cruise in convoy to Afon, about 20 kilometres from Ilorin for sporting activities among other events.

They will be led by the Chairman of the Old Students Association of the school, Alhaji Yaqoob Mobolaji Aburraq and his executive members.

At the school, the old students will plant trees, take environmental tour around the school,meet with the students for career talk,by one of them, Dr David Amao, observe Juamnah service, engage in 30 minutes novelty match and watch Inter-, house sports.

Our Correspondent further reports that the programme continues on Saturday with Self introduction by old students, honouring of deceased old students and members of the school.

Other activities are: Fund raising,Unveiling of the Alumni Magazine/, Album, lecture by one of the old students, Prof.Suleiman Ambali, presentation of awards while the programme will come to an end with dinner and dinner dance at Kwara Hotel, Ilorin.
