2023: Youth wing of CAN endorses Yerima to contest for office of president

As political cloud gathers momentum towards 2023 general elections, the youth wing of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has endorsed former Governor of Zamfara state, Sen. Sani Yerima, to contest for the position of president, describing him as the best choice for Nigerian president come next year.

The President, Youth Wing of the association and the National Director Christian strategies, Simon Doliy, made this known during a meeting and consultation with Women wing of CAN in Abuja, ahead of Yerima’s polical aspiration for the exercise

He said: “Yarima, knows the importance of women and youths, that is why he started the consultation with the women group our youth group.

“He’s a Muslim and now he has started with the Christians for the 19 northern states and Abuja, so the essence is for them to know him, his vision and aspiration for an important polical office in the country,come 2023.

“Everybody has his or her own aspiration. I feel that he is the best for the nation this time around because of his long time experience during his governor and as a senator, he has all the experiences.

” Somebody that has a very compassion, especially for youths and women; somebody that loves the nation; somebody that loves the peace of this nation; somebody that loves  Justice and equity,somebody that loves everybody.

“I m a Christian but I can walk to his house at any time I can sit with him, he doesn’t discriminate that’s the kind of the leader we want, a leader with a heart of gold,the leader that does not see somebody with difference.

“If Yarima is give opportunity to rule, this country will be better.”

In her words, Mrs Elizabeth Ajegena , chairperson, women of CAN, stated tbat the ex governor had a positive track record as governor, addingif given the chance to rule Nigeria as president he would ensure that peace prevails in the country.

She said: “We’re here today to the glory of God, for our son, Ahmad Sani Yarima that has been the Governor Zamfara State, for this we have had testimony of goodwill about him.

“He is a man of peace, a man of integrity, he’s a man that accommodates, a man that tolerates, because of this, he motivated us to come and share with him, since he has moved out that he wants to become next president of Nigeria.

“We pray that as he did it in zamfara state, may the will of God be done and he will continue with that. If it is just that, we will be happy because for the sake of  security.

She expressed that if Yerima becomes the president of Nigeria, there would be  be enhanced peace between Christians and Muslims in Nigeria.”

Meanwhile, the WOWICAN deaconess Mrs. Victoria Bola Ihesiulor, also expressed optimism in the person of Yarima, noting that by this consultation, he had shown that he was ready to work with everyone, adding that he belonged to the class of people who religious or sectoral divide did not influence his decision.

“Yarima is a man of peace, tranquility and he is someone who believes in the oneness of Nigeria. You can see from the attendance today, where women of the Christian background from all the northern states are consulting with him in order to have a proper decision on who to vote for, come 2023,” she said.

Highlight at the occasion were prayers for the country among others.

Responding,Senator  Yarima expressed satisfaction over his consultation with the group and assured them of his mandate to unite and bring peace to the county.

“If I become the president of this country, I will we work with you to ensure unity and progress of this country, you will find in me, a good leader who will be fair and just to everyone in this country,” he promised.
