The controversy surrounding the choice of the next Olubadan of Ibadan land,Dr Lekan Balogun notwithstanding,the Olubadan In Council has endorsed him as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland.
The Reporters recalls that the 41st Olubadan of Ibadan land,Oba Saliu Adetuniji died recently at the age of 93.
Speaking during a new briefing in Ibadan on Wednesday the Osi Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Tajudeen Ajibola said Balogun was endorsed by 10 out of 11 members of the Olubadan-in-Council.
Ajibola said the kingmakers resolved that Dr Balogun should be next in line to occupy throne of Olubadan in accordance with the tradition.
The Osi Balogun also said the next Olubadan of Ibadan land had no health related issue, adding that the legal tussle over the ascension to the throne of Ibadanland would not stop the succession to the Olubadan throne.
Our Correspondent gathered that the meeting was attended by members of the Olubadan-in-Council with the exception of one time of governor of the Oyo state, Chief Rashidi Ladoja.
Other High Chiefs in attendance were: Balogun Olubadan, Owolabi Olakulehin; Otun Balogun, Olufemi Olaifa; Ashipa Olubadan, Eddy Oyewole and Osi Balogun, Tajudeen Ajibola anong others.
The online publication recalls that a former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in Oyo state, Michael Lana,has raised objection to the claim that the next in line to the Olubadan, Senator Lekan Balogun, should be the next Olubadan of Ibadan land, in his petition to the Governor of the state, Mr Sheyi Makinde.
He said his objection was based on the fact that the immediate past administration in the state crowned some Bales as Obas, among others,contrary to the tradition of Ibadan land.
