Former Registrar,Kogi State University Anyigba Dr Abubakar Yunusa Idu on Wednesday, died at the coronation of the new Attah of Igala,HRH Mathew Alaji Opaluwa 1 in Idah, headquarters of Idah Local Governnent Area of the state.
A source at the occasion,who wants to remain anonymous, told The Reporters that Idu, who breezed into the occasion,glad in white outfit,full of life,beaming smile and exchanging pleasantries with other dignitaries, suddenly developed uneasiness in health at 4.30 p.m,shortly after taking his seat.
“He came into the occasion at about in company of other illustrious sons of Igala land for the coronation and was looking healthy and exchanging greetings with those he met at the occasion. Little did we know that he was performing his last activity on earth.
“Immediately people noticed that he was struggling to breath, urgent move was made to take him to the hospital, but unfortunately, he gave up the ghost before getting to the hospital. His death is most unfortunate,”the source said.
Our Correspondent gathered that the deceased who hailed from Ojoku in Ankpa Local Government Area of kogi state joined the services of Kogi State University,Anyigba as Assistant Registrar in 1999,rose to the position of Deputy Registrar and was appointed Registrar of the institution in 2016.
Our Correspondent recalls that Dr. Idu took over from the late Registrar of the Institution,Mr (Elder) Joseph Zhizhi who lost his life in a ghastly motor accident on Okene -Anyigba road in 2015.
His remains were taken to Ankpa,his ancestral home for burial according to muslim rites.
The late Dr Idu started his early education in Ankpa town with quoranic education,from there to College of Education,Ankpa, moved to the University of Nigeria Nsukka for his graduate and post graduate studies in public administration,and capped it with his PhD in the same discipline.
He left a wife and children to mourn him.
