The National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ), Kwara State chapter, has decried the spate of insecurity across the country, leading to daily wanton destruction of lives.
The league, which noted the concerted efforts of the federal and state governments to arrest the unacceptable situation, however, urged the government to do more to ensure that peace returns to the land.
In a communique issued at the end of its monthly meeting in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, the league said the spate of the killing of innocent citizens by the bandits and kidnappers was worrisome.
The Communique, signed by NALVEJ’s chairman and secretary, Alhaji Tunde Akanbi and Alhaji Mudasiru Adewuyi respectively, specifically condemned the recent upsurge in kidnapping in Kwara state.
It, however, commended the state government and security agencies in the state in their efforts to reverse the trend and make the state secure for the residents.
The veteran Journalists urged them to intensify efforts and also advised residents to provide useful information to the security agents on any suspicious movement in their environment.
The league chairman during the meeting inaugurated the committees on the review of the league’s constitution and cooperative society.
The constitution review committee is headed by Barr. AbduRahman AbdulMalik while that of cooperative society is headed by Mr Kayode Adeyipo.
