Hundreds of practising Journalists in Kogi state, on Monday, gathered at their Press Centre, Lokoja to pay their last respect to one of their own, Mrs Lucy Damian, who died a week ago in Abuja during an illness.

Our Correspondent who visited the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lokoja, reports that many members of the fourth estate of the realm were seen mourning while who could not control their emotional bursted into crying for departed colleague.
Speaking at the solemn occasion, the state chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Alhaji Momojimoh Adeiza, described the deceased as a thorough professional colleague who used her expertise to improve her society.
Adeiza added that due to high commitment of the late Damian in her work and unionism, the union selected her to represent her colleagues at the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) as an ex-officio members, acknowledging that “the work she did creditability till her last moment on earth.”
The state Chairman, who noted that Journalists in the state and beyond the shores of the state would sorely and surely miss late Damian, sympathised with her families, urging them to be consoled that the deceased lived a worthy life that should be emulated.
Adeiza prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest and her family, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
From the press centre, the remains of Mrs Damian, who was the Head, News and Current Affairs, kogi State Broadcasting Corporation, were taken for church service in Lokoja, preparatory to her final burial.
The Reporters gathered that deceased,who marked her 50th birthday few days before death,left her husband, three children and other relations to mourn her.
