Security personnel loses life to heavy rain in kwara

A Sunday morning heavy rainfall in Tunga Rijawa village of Kaiama Local Government Area of kwara state has claimed the life a middle aged private security personnel, simply known as Mallam Babangida.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC),Babawale Zaid Afolabi, disclosed this in a statement a copy of which was made available to The Reporters in Ilorin on Monday.

He said that Mallam Babangida died after falling off a bridg and inturn, fell into a river in the village, due to the wave emanating from the heavy rainfall.

He said:”The bridge is a makeshift, comprising a ladder and other materials to enable pedestrians work cross the river.

“As a result of the heavy rainfall, the river wave pushed the ladder away with the deceased and he fell into the river,his dead body was later found beside the river and retrieved after it was washed to the river bank.

“The deceased was a security guard at Turning Point Construction Company and while he was going home, after closing from work, as he was trying to cross the bridge, he fell into it and died.

The NSCDC image maker advised residents to be very careful of their movement especially during downpour, to guide against reoccurrence of such incident in the future.
