Humility over the years remains an uncommon quality attained or acquired by few men in the society. Therefore, it takes people of extreme sterling quality to achieve such an enviable pedigree.
For some, it is an innate measure of one’s moral disposition a crave from cradle while others achieve it through a dint of hard work and enviable gesture to the people, especially the down troddened.
In between these variables lies the glaring public perception of an illoustrous son of Nigeria in particular Anambra State and indeed, Umuchu Village in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, Mr Godwin Chukwunaenye Ezeemo.
Ezeemo, an industrialist per excellence, whose social enterprenuerial spirit has uplifted the social and economic life of thousands of people in Anambra State from poverty and want and Nigeria at large, posses enviable quality worthy of emulation by people who yearn for quality leadership and meaningful in all ramifications of life.
Mr Ezeemo(64) is a product of a humble family of Nze Umeaku Godwin Ezeemo and lolo Ahusie Charity Ezeemo of Umuwaylekwosiduru Dim kindred of Umuologwo ,Amanasaa,Umuchu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Though he lost his father at a tender age, prior to starting his primary school education,he says the painful development prepares him for” an elaborate life of hardwork, determination and care for others.
After secondary school,he proceeded to the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro in Ogun state, where he bagged his OND and HND certificate in marketing, a strong leverage that propelled to greater heights in commerce, industry, the media among other sectors of the economic, where he is making no mean achievement for the greater benefit of all and sundry.
A farmer, publisher, industrialist and manufacturer, Ezeemo is the chairman, Orient group of Company. These include; Orient Export ltd,UK,Dokkan International, Orient Feed Mill and farms ltd, Orient Magazines, Newspapers and Communications ltd, Global Orient waterwell ltd, Union Haulage ltd, Honeywell Hotels ltd and Orient Mega FM Radio 98.l with about 20,000 workers receiving salaries as and when due.
This bonafide son of Umuchu, a historic human settlement in Iboland has written his name in gold as aman whose name is synonymous with humility, philanthropic disposition whose borning desire inject a Christ-like leadership in the body politics of Anambra state with a view to changing an unenviable narrative in the state.
As political space in Anambra State becomes widened and eligible voters earnestly yearning for November 6 to elect the next Governor to occupy the number 1 political seat of the state, the pendulum seems beaming on this great man of milk of human kindness to be the next governor of Anambra State in the next political dispensation based on his track record of achievements in human development.
The gamut of opinion in the state, particularly his root, Umuchu, points to the fact that Mr Godwin Ezeemo is a man to look for in the concerted efforts to take Anambra State to the promise land. This is exemplified by his enviable achievements in all sectors of the social and economic development of Umuchu, Anambra and Nigeria at large.
In about eight months from now, specifically November 6, eligible voters in the State will troope to various polling booths to elect the governor of their choice to provide purposeful leadership, it becomes imperative for them to shine their eyes and conscience beyond money politics and elect somebody who will serve them to the best of expectation, devoid of self aggradisement.
The Parish Priest, Anglican Church, Umuchu, Anambra State, Rev. Canon Onyebuchi Konisa,,who noted that Anambra State election remainded a funny exercise, however, described the frontline aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Mr Godwin Ezeemo, as one aspirant in the heart of most people to become the next governor of the state.
Konisa,who commended Ezeemo for being a social enterprenuerial, large heart and credited with many industries of about 20,000 employees in the state, described him as a man that loves his people and determines to uplift their lot to the maximum, through people and result-oriented policies and programmes, if given the mandate to be the next governor of Anambra.
“He came into politics to lessen the burden of the less privileged in the state and not for personal aggradisement as we see now,”he said.
The cleric, who disclosed that Mr Ezeemo single handed built a church for the Anglican Church, Umuchu, among his philanthropic dispositions toward the people,prayed God to grant his heart desire in politics and other social and economic endeavours.
Mrs Vivian Ezeemo, who manages the aspirant’s filling station, computer as well as his business centere,all in Umuchu, described him as an entrepreneur “who is using his resources to uplift the downtrodden in the area, stressing that “this man of absolute sense of compassionate toward his fellow humans would do better,if elected as the next governor of the state.
“As his employee, he is paying me well, the salary enables me to maintain a good life and be training my children, two of who are now in the university. I am, indeed, grateful to this wonderful man of God and our time.
“If given chance to govern the state as the governor of Anambra state, he will change the narrative in our political system that not favoured the poor.
“His various companies; ranging from agriculture, oil and gas to hospitality industry in the state maens living wages for many workers and food on the table of thousands of homes.
In his contribution, Mr Ezenwa Kelechi, also described the PDP aspirant as a man of principle with the love of the people of the state on top of his agenda, adding that if given the mandate to govern the people, they would not regret electing him.
“Mr Ezeemo is a humble and God-fearing man and if allowed to govern Anambra State, he will do wonder in putting smiles on the faces of many, particularly the poor in the society.
The frontline Governorship aspirant days he is not unconscious of the teethling problems confronting the state, especially power and erosion and promised to prioritize constant power supply, if I given the mandate to governance the state.
Ezeemo, who owns chains of company Orient groups of company, said as an entrepreneur, he realised that the greatest impediment to social and economic development of the state and Nigeria at large is the epileptic power supply.
He said:”As an entrepreneur, I am at great pain in running my companies, because there is no adequate power to activate them for maximum productivity.
“Given this unfortunate circumstance therefore, I have no option than resort to using diesel to power my companies Andrew this takes a lot of my resources with corresponding negative effects on my income.
“Therefore, fixing Anambra State with constant energy,by harnessing various energy resources and potentiities of the state will be my priority to stimulate productive efforts and enable people engage in various productive social and economic activities with multiplier effect on less crime and criminality.
On education, the governorship aspirant said he would lay emphasis on technical education with a view to equipping youths with technical knowledge to enable them use their brain and hand to be productive in reality with the current demand in the 21st century.
” My dream, if the people of Anambra State give me the opportunity to govern them, is to ensure that henceforth, our education is will such that our youths will be trained on what they can use their hands to do and not just arming themselves with paper qualification which has only theoretical knowledge,”he promised the people.
On why he is in politics, in spite the fact that he supervises groups of company, Ezeemo, said he came into politics not to indulge in self aggradisement but to serve the people,reduce poverty add value to life, a Christ-like leadership, to bring the much needed peace and development to humanity.
They noted that, if as an individual Mr Ezeemo could uplift the social and economic life of the rural populace, by virtue of his companies providing jobs to thousands of people in Umuchu and beyond the shores of the town, he would do more as the next governor for the generality of Anambrans, if voted into power.
Political analysts in Anambra State argue that Godwin Ezeemo’s slogan “Anambra State can be better” will work wonder for Anambrans, with him at the helm of the state,this time around, in accordance with the popular demand of the people.
