The political crisis in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger state is far from being over as stakeholders in the are have appealed to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello to make haste in resolving the political impasse that has grounded business and administrative activities in the area almost to a halt.

The Reporters reports that the area has been in political turmoil for some time niw over alleged misappropriation of public funds against the chairman, Alhaji Suleiman Dauda Chukuba, who was subsequently suspended by the Council’s Councillors for the same allegation.

The incident has also brought administrative and political activities in the area to a standstill, notwithstanding the intervention of some individuals and the State House of Assembly.

The development prompted Alhaji Awaisu Giwa Wana, an elder in the area to call on the Governor’s intervention with a view to bringing lasting peace in the area.

He appeal on Bello to, ‘avoid paying lip service to the crisis and ensure implementation of his directive, for a committee to be set up to investigate the suspended chairman’.

Addressing journalists in Minna,he wondered why the Governor’s directive to Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice to constitute a committee to investigate allegations of financial recklessness against the suspended Chairman is yet to be acted upon, months after the incident was reported.

Awaisu, who is the leader of Shiroro Elders’ forum, said the forum was aware of efforts made by individuals and groups to frustrate the setting up of an investigative panel.

He further appealed to the Governor to stamp his authority and ensure that a Committee comes on board to investigate the numerous allegations against Suleiman Chukuba.

He said, “Only the committee can either clear the suspended Chairman Suleiman Dauda Chukuba or confirm his involvement in all the allegations of mismanagement of public funds running into millions of naira.

“When set up, the committee will investigate the whereabouts of another millions of naira from internally Generated Revenue (IGR) monies inherited from the previous administration for corps members and as well, Security intervention funds allegedly received by the Chairman for over a year now”.
