Some members of Cadet inspectors course 37 of 2005 of the Nigeria police have pleaded with the Police Service Commission (PSC) and Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to amend their promotion date from 01/01/2019 to 31/12/2016.
Some of the inspectors who made the plea in a separate interview with our correspondent in Minna on Monday, on the condition of anonymity said the amendment would enable them retain their seniority over junior officers whom they claimed were now of the same rank with them.
The inspectors said they made plea in respect of frustrations confronting them in the on-going police reforms, especially as it relates to their promotions, stressing, “We are begging the PSC and the IGP to look into our plight with pity.”
The police officers concerned noted that while their Cadet ASPs of same year had been shortlisted for third promotion to the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), they had been left without similar promotions.
They also claimed that they spent 16 years in service after graduating from the Police Academy, Wudil, adding that had only benefitted two promotions since their appointment on 01/02/2005.
“We are begging the Police Service Commission and the Inspector General of Police to declare that, while the Cadet ASPs of same year have been shortlisted for their third promotion to the rank of CSP the 01/02/2005,we should be considered for same promotion,” one of them further pleaded.
