A Lagos-baed NGO,The Raised for Excellence,says it has registered and commenced training of over 2,000 youths to enable them achieve their dreams and contribute to development of Nigeria in various social and economic endeavours and stay away from crime.
Mrs Juliet Oyeniyi, disclosed this in Lagos on Monday while speaking with journalists.
She said the aims and objectives of the training was targeted toward achieving the concept of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with a view to impacting and transforming the lives of the youths ad well as inspire them to become exceptional leaders and role models in the society.
“It is our vision to reach out to at least “One Youth, One Home” from Nigeria to other African Countries.
“In a bid to achieve its vision, Raised for Excellence has rolled out a Crime Prevention Campaign stern into two programmes to reduce the rate of crime in the Society.
“This campaign is premised on designing communication, targeted at the mental health of young people by helping them to understand how they can handle stress/pressure and make better decisions.
” The training will also help to raise awareness among the youth about the destructive tendencies inherent in crime and how they can be positive influencers.
“The project segmented into two programmes, Victim-Oriented and Offender-Oriented programmes.
“Raised for Excellence Campaign Against Crime’ is an all-encompassing mental health and empowerment campaign, with the purpose of reducing the rate of crime and continuous offenders in the society.

She said that the campaign officially kicked off in July 2020 with a design to support and promote effective partnerships with families, governments, and law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime.
Oyeniyi said the NGOs had fostered the collaboration with the Ministry of Youth in driving this project and by extension, impacting over 3,000 youths through various platforms in Lagos State.
“This campaign will mentor up to 300 youths, including ex-offenders and empower them to be self-sustaining in other not to return to unsafe activities, they could support their families and become change-makers in their communities,” she added.
She explained that innovation was required to reduce crime and unsafe activities in the society, most importantly to support ex-offenders after they vacate the correctional centers.
This campaign shares crime prevention tips and advises young people about increased risks of arrest if stressful situations culminate in venturing into unsafe activities.
