The Organised Labour in Kwara State says that there is no going back on the proposed industrial action, if the Government of Kwara State fails to sign and implement the minimum wage for the workers in the state.
The labour leaders re-echo this in a communiqué issued at the end of an emergency congress of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Joint Negotiating Council (JNC-TUS) held at Labour House, Ilorin on Thursday.
The Reporters said that the communiqué was signed by the State Chairmen of NLC, TUC and JNC-TUS, Aliyu Issa Ore, Ezekiel A. Adegoke and Saliu O. Suleiman.
The congress agreed to go on with the proposed industrial action if the state government refuses to sign and implement the new Minimum wage within the 14 days ultimatum given by the labour movement.
The labour leaders also resolved to mobilize every member from all affiliated unions toward the commencement of the strike coming up on October 13, 2020, and called for an enlarge State Executive Council (SEC) meeting to sensitise and equip them for the industrial action.
âThe leadership of the Labour Movement in Kwara State will not call-off the industrial action until our demands are metâ, the communiquĂ© added.
The congress commended the leadership of the Labour Movements for the good work done so far on the minimum wage implementation with the state government and reassured workers in the state that it would not betray the confidence repose in it while the struggle last.
