The Egbira nation and the Kogi Central district have been thrown into deep mourning following the death of a revered elder statesman, Moses Ovurevu Onivehu, who passed away on Friday during a brief illness in Lokoja.

Reacting to the tragic loss, the Ohinoyi of Egbiraland, Mohammed Tijani Ahmed Anaje, expressed profound shock and sorrow over the passing of the respected community figure, describing his death as a painful blow to Egbiraland and beyond.

Until his demise, Elder Onivehu was an active and valued member of the Kogi Central Think Tank Forum (KCTTF), where he played a significant role in advancing dialogue, peace, and development initiatives within the district.
The Chairman of the Forum, Dr. Haroun Opotu Yussuff, conveyed the monarch’s grief during a condolence visit to the family of the deceased in Lokoja on Saturday.
Dr.Yussuff said the Ohinoyi, who holds the Forum in high regard for its contributions to peace and unity in Kogi Central, was mouthful when he told him about the sad news and had inquired about the burial arrangements of the late elder.
The chairman described the late Onivehu as a man of rare wisdom, integrity, and exemplary leadership, whose counsel and contributions greatly enriched the Forum, adding that members were devastated by the loss of a figure they deeply respected and admired.
“Death is the inevitable end of all mortals,” he said after signing the condolence register, urging the bereaved family and associates to take solace in the fact that the deceased lived a life worthy of emulation.
Prayers were offered for the repose of his soul by two of the Forum members; Bola Boro and Petra Balagbogbo, who prayed for strength and comfort for the family he left behind.
Our recalls that just four days before his passing, Elder Onivehu had been nominated to serve as Chairman of the Electoral Committee for the Forum’s forthcoming elections,an assignment that underscored the confidence reposed in his leadership and integrity.
