The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the sustainable growth of Nigeria’s telecommunications sector through closer collaboration with the industry regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu gave the assurance when members of the NCC Board, led by its Chairman, Chief Idris Olorunnimbe, paid him a courtesy visit at the Lagos House, Alausa-Ikeja.
Signals from the visit indicate that discussions centred on strategies for strengthening cooperation between the Commission and the Lagos State Government to further advance the telecommunications sector across the state.
Governor Sanwo-Olu described Lagos as a critical stakeholder in Nigeria’s digital ecosystem, noting that the state, apart from being a “Centre of Excellence” remains committed to policies and initiatives that promote innovation, infrastructure development and investor confidence in the telecoms industry.
He restated the readiness of the Lagos State Government to continue working closely with the NCC to address industry challenges and create an enabling environment for operators and investors.
The governor also assured the visiting Board members of the state’s determination to foster sustainable growth within the telecommunications ecosystem, in line with Lagos’ status as Nigeria’s economic hub and Centre of Excellence.
In their remarks, members of the NCC Board commended the Lagos State Government for its support of the telecoms sector and expressed optimism that enhanced collaboration would further strengthen digital connectivity and economic development in the state.
