The National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has cautioned Nigerians, particularly job seekers, against fake recruitment portals inviting applicants to specific locations for purported job placement interviews.
In a statement made available to journalists in Minna, the Commission dissociated itself from what it described as a job scam, warning that a purported recruitment portal inviting applicants for a technical and practical screening exercise into the Commission is fake.
The statement, issued by the Head of Press and Public Affairs, Nura Tanko Wakili, on Wednesday,described the circulating information as false and misleading, urging members of the public to disregard it entirely.
Wakili warned unemployed Nigerians, especially youths, not to fall victim to criminal elements by honouring invitations to non-existent job interviews, which could also expose them to security risks.
According to him, N-HYPPADEC is currently not conducting any recruitment exercise at its headquarters in Minna, Borgu, or any other location.
“The attention of N-HYPPADEC has been drawn to a purported invitation for a technical and practical screening exercise allegedly scheduled to hold at the Kainji Hydropower Station, New Bussa, Niger State,” he said.
He stressed that “the information is false, misleading and intended to defraud unsuspecting job seekers and members of the public, as the invitation did not emanate from N-HYPPADEC.”
The Commission advised the public to ignore the fake recruitment exercise and urged Nigerians to always verify information through N-HYPPADEC’s official communication channels to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.
