The Crime Reporters Global Nigeria has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to review the leadership of security agencies in Niger State following the recent abduction of students and teachers.

In a statement signed by the National Chairman, Comrade Tita Onyebuchi Nze and the Secretary General, Amb. Barth Ikiebe, the association expressed concern over the incident, noting that it highlights gaps in the security architecture that may require urgent attention.

The group said the mass abduction of more than 300 persons from a single location was deeply troubling and called for a thorough assessment of how such an operation could occur without early detection or swift interruption.

It questioned the level of security presence and intelligence available during the incident, asking how the movement of such a large number of victims could take place without adequate security response.

According to the association, the incident underscores the need to strengthen operational efficiency, coordination, and vigilance among security personnel in the state.

Crime Reporters Global Nigeria urged President Tinubu, as Commander-in-Chief, to consider necessary measures, including leadership review, to restore public confidence and ensure improved protection of lives and property.

The group also emphasised that holding officials accountable for lapses and improving overall performance would contribute to reducing incidents of kidnapping, banditry, and other security challenges.

A leadership review, it said, would send a strong signal on the importance of responsibility and proactive security management.
