The proprietor of NationalWatch TV and publisher of NationalWatch Newspaper in Lokoja,kogi state,Alhaji Amuda Dan Sulaiman Fab, has vowed to seek legal redress against the petitioner who accused him of slander, following his release on bail by the police.
Our correspondent recalls that Alhaji Dan Sulaiman, a veteran journalist, was recently invited by the police over what he described as a “phantom allegation” of slander but released on bail after the petitioner reportedly failed to produce any witnesses to substantiate the claim.
Speaking with journalists in Lokoja,shortly after his release, the media entrepreneur described the petition as a calculated attempt to tarnish his hard-earned reputation and intimidate the press.
According to him, “Politicians who think they can use their influence to embarrass journalists must be taught a lesson through legal means. The days of using power to silence the truth are over.”
He emphasized that NationalWatch TV and its sister publication would not be deterred by intimidation or baseless allegations, reaffirming their commitment to professionalism, objectivity, and the pursuit of truth in journalism.
Alhaji Dan Sulaiman urged media practitioners across the country to remain steadfast, courageous, and united in the discharge of their constitutional duties, stressing that journalism must never be suppressed by fear, falsehood, or political manipulation.
