Police Warn Hoodlums, Vow Tough Action Ahead of Okura II Bye-Election

The Police Command Kogi State has issued a stern warning to hoodlums and troublemakers to stay away from polling units and collation centres during Saturday’s bye-election in the Okura II State Constituency.

In a statement on Friday in Lokoja, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Williams Ovye-Aya, also cautioned members of the public against taking the law into their own hands.

“Anyone caught violating electoral laws during the bye-election will be dealt with decisively.The police will not hesitate to take firm action against anyone attempting to disrupt the peace currently being enjoyed in the state,”Ovye-Aya said.

He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, had reiterated the command’s readiness, in partnership with other security agencies, to ensure a peaceful and orderly election.

Dantawaye,he added ,urged residents of the affected communities to cooperate fully with security operatives and to be vigilant against criminal elements seeking to disrupt the process.
