Kogi Wrestling Coach Ologunja Honoured for Excellence in Sports,Community Service

Head Coach of the Kogi State Wrestling Association, Ologunja Ojo John, has been conferred with the prestigious Certificate of Honour Per Excellence and Icon Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to sports development, youth empowerment, and community service.

The award was presented on August 8, 2025, by Professor Abraham Daniel Bamidele JP, President and Founder of the Summit College of Ecclesia Leadership, International, Nigeria, West Africa (SCELBAI) Inc., during a ceremony held at God’s Kingdom Mission Evangelical Church, Nigeria.

Coach Ologunja, celebrated for his unwavering commitment to nurturing wrestling talent in Kogi State, was also recognised for his active role in supporting the church building project and other community initiatives.

Speaking on the honour, the veteran coach attributed the recognition to divine grace, saying:

“This is God in action for my good works. By their fruits, you shall know them. I am humbled and grateful for this award.”

The ceremony brought together sports enthusiasts, church leaders, and community members who praised Coach Ologunja’s dedication both on and off the wrestling mat. His leadership has inspired many young athletes in Kogi State, fostering discipline, resilience, and excellence in sports.
