Ododo Boosts Security: Kogi Government Hands Over 16 Refurbished Vehicles to Security Agencies

The Kogi State Government has handed over 16 refurbished operational vehicles to various security agencies across the state,in a move aimed at strengthening the fight against crime in the state.

The handover ceremony, held on Thursday in Lokoja, was carried out by the Kogi State Security Trust Fund and reflects Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s commitment to enhancing public safety and supporting security operations.

Speaking on behalf of the Governor, Mrs. Funmilayo Bello, Administrative Officer in the Office of the Director General, Government House Administration, said the gesture underscores the administration’s dedication to securing lives and property throughout Kogi State.

Mrs. Bello, who also represented the Director General of Government House Administration, Umar Shaibu, noted that the donation aligns with Governor Ododo’s broader vision of eradicating insecurity and fostering a peaceful environment for development.

The Chairman of the Kogi State Security Trust Fund, Air Vice Marshal Faruk Omeiza (Rtd), praised the Governor’s proactive approach to security, describing the refurbished vehicles as vital tools to enhance the mobility and response time of security personnel.

Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the security agencies, Deputy Commissioner of Police Daba Mallam, who represented the State Commissioner of Police, Miller Dantawaye, expressed gratitude to the state government.

Dantawaye assured that the vehicles would be put to good use and maintained properly.

Deputy Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Idonie Felix, also commended Governor Ododo, saying the vehicles would significantly improve their operational effectiveness.

He reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to protecting lives and property in the state.

Other security agencies represented at the event,including the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kogi State Vigilante Service, and the Nigerian Correctional Service,also lauded the Governor’s commitment to security and pledged continued cooperation with the government.

A representative of Access Bank, Mr. Yunusa Jimoh, expressed the bank’s willingness to continue supporting the state’s security initiatives through strategic partnerships and corporate social responsibility programs.

The highlight of the event was the official presentation and handover of the vehicles to the heads of the security agencies, marking another step in Governor Ododo’s efforts to build a safer Kogi State, according to the Government House Media Team’s statement sent to The Reporters on Friday.
