By correspondent in Lokoja.

A High Court sitting in Lokoja has upheld the emergence of Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu as the Ohimegye of Igu (Kotonkarfi) Kingdom, dismissing a suit filed by the deposed monarch, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isah Koto, for lacking merit and competence.

In a judgment delivered by Justice A .O Salihu, the judge said the suit challenging Salihu’s ascension to the throne was found to be without legal foundation.

The court affirmed that due process was followed in the selection and installation of Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu as the traditional ruler.

Alhaji Abdulrazaq Isah Koto, the former Ohimegye, had approached the court seeking to nullify the selection of his successor and reinstate himself as the rightful ruler of the kingdom.

Reacting to the verdict, HRM Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu described the ruling as a “no victor, no vanquished” judgment.

He called on all members of his Igu Kingdom to embrace peace and unity for the collective progress of the community.

“This is a victory for our people,” We must put the past behind us and work together towards the development of our kingdom”he said.

The first class traditional ruler urged all parties to remain calm and emphasized the importance of unity for sustainable development within the kingdom.
