In a bid to strengthen their alma mater’s legacy and expand their network, old students of Government Secondary School, Afon, Kwara State, have inaugurated a Membership Mobilization Committee to boost engagement and participation.

The event, which took place in Ilorin, was conducted in a hybrid format, allowing some members to attend physically while others joined virtually.

Our correspondent, a pioneer graduate of the 49-year-old institution, reports that the initiative underscores the association’s commitment to fostering unity and growth among its alumni.

Speaking after his appointment, the newly inaugurated Committee Chairman, Abdullahi O. Taiwo (Baringo), expressed deep gratitude to the association’s General House.

He particularly commended the Executive Committee (EXCO) for its dynamic, visionary, and selfless leadership.

He said:“To our distinguished President, Hajji AbdulRasaq Yakub, and your exceptional team, we salute your outstanding leadership, unwavering dedication, and relentless commitment to the progress of our great organization. Your ability to inspire, unite, and lead with wisdom and integrity is truly commendable.”

Acknowledging the critical role of the mobilization committee, Taiwo assured members of his team’s dedication and enthusiasm in executing their mandate.

“We recognize the enormous responsibility entrusted to us and accept it with a strong sense of duty and commitment. “We will work with diligence, dedication, and excellence to strengthen our association,”he also promised.

The chairman emphasized that while the committee has already begun work, success will require collective effort from all members.

“Our mission is clear, and we will leave no stone unturned in achieving our objectives. “However, our success is not in our hands alone—it depends on the support, cooperation, and encouragement of every member. Together, we can build a stronger, more united, and more prosperous GSS Afon Old Students Association.”

Our correspondent reports that with the mobilization drive now underway, the association is poised for greater engagement, unity, and impact.
