Just reflecting on this fleeting illusion we call life—an enigma that many embrace as though it holds ultimate significance.
Recently, I watched a video of a Nigerian boxer who collapsed and died in the ring during a bout in Ghana. Just moments earlier, he was a picture of strength, skillfully dominating his opponent. Yet, in an instant, the breath of life left him, and all efforts to revive him failed.
This stark reality raises a profound question: What, in this transient existence, is truly worth the relentless struggle? Why do we exhaust ourselves chasing wealth, power, and material possessions as if they hold the key to immortality?
All in the name of self aggrandizement and crude and crash privatization,some people go as far as looting billions of naira, amassing fortunes at the expense of millions of the improved fellow human beings. Those who indulge in this dangerous venture remain blind to the truth that all they gather will one day slip through their fingers like sand.
If only we could grasp the true nature of life, we would recognize its second name—Vanity upon vanity and play our part in making life meaningful for the oppressed before we quit the stage of life for others to step in and continue from where we stop.
I am just thinking aloud.
