The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) successfully recovered 73 stolen vehicles across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) throughout 2024, according to the Corps Marshal,Malam Shehu Mohammed.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by FRSC’s Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide, Mohammed credited the achievement to the National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS) portal, which facilitated the recovery.
“This operation has dealt a significant blow to car thieves and other criminal networks operating in Nigeria,” Mohammed said, describing the result as a major success. “It also demonstrates the FRSC’s unwavering commitment to national security, intelligence sharing, and the protection of lives and property on our roads.”
The recovery included a wide range of vehicles, such as four Toyota Highlanders, 21 Toyota Corollas, 17 Toyota Camrys, and several other vehicles, including a Toyota Hilux, Lexus models, Honda Pilots, and even a Man truck.
Mohammed commended FRSC personnel for their exceptional professionalism and bravery in collaborating with other security agencies to track and recover the stolen vehicles.
He urged vehicle owners to ensure they provide accurate information during registration to aid intelligence gathering and facilitate future recoveries. “Accurate data is key to enabling timely recoveries and maintaining road safety for all,” he emphasized.
The Corps Marshal reassured the public that the FRSC would continue its proactive efforts to keep Nigerian roads safe and secure, contributing to a safer motoring environment for all.
