The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Ogun 1 Area Command generated N275.8 million in revenue during 2024, according to a statement from the command’s Comptroller, Mr. Mohammed Shuaibu.
Speaking at a news conference in Idiroko on Tuesday, Shuaibu attributed the achievement to the dedicated efforts of Customs officers and the cooperation of local traders.
He said the revenue was primarily derived from baggage assessments, auction sales of petroleum products and vehicles, and other operational efforts.
Shuaibu further revealed that significant seizures, include 16,712 bags of foreign parboiled rice, 139,881 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), and over 3,000 parcels of cannabis sativa.
Other contraband items seized ,he added, include.used clothing, vehicles, tires, donkey skins, frozen poultry, and imported flour.
He emphasized that these efforts were integral in combating smuggling, protecting the economy, and ensuring public safety.
The Comptroller praised the leadership of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Mr. Adewale Adeniyi, for supporting the command’s operations and providing an environment conducive to success.
