Explosion Causes Casualties,Extensive Property Damage Along Kaduna-Abuja Highway

An explosion from articulated
vehicle which happened at Dikko Junction along the Kaduna-Abuja highway on Saturday morning has resulted in several fatalities and numerous injuries from fire burns.

Our correspondent reports that the explosion also caused extensive damage to vehicles, shops, and residential buildings in the area.

Eyewitnesses to our correspondent that the vehicle, carrying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), lost balance while attempting to avoid a damaged section of the road and fell on its side, leaking its contents.

The Reorters further gathered despite the risk, a crowd gathered around the fallen tanker, while some trying to collect the leaking fuel in containers.

Suddenly, the vehicle exploded, sending thick smoke into the air and making it difficult for many to escape.

The Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has expressed condolences to the families of the victims, calling the incident heartbreaking and unfortunate and emphasized the importance of safety awareness in such a situation.

Governor Bago ordered increased security along the highway and instructed relevant agencies to take measures to prevent further loss of lives and property.
