Road accident kills 6, injures 60 in Kogi

No fever than 6 persons lost their lives while 60 others sustained injuries in an auto Crash around the popular Zone 8 round in Lokoja, Kogi State, north central, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps in the state.

Our correspondent gathered that the accident happened at about 3.00 p.m on Tuesday involving an articulated vehicle.

Mr Samuel Oyedeji, FRSC Kogi Sector Command, who made the disclosure to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), attributed the accident to high speed.

“Our officers in collaboration with the police and NSCDC personnel rushed the injured to Kogi specialist Hospital and Federal University Teaching Hospital,Lokoja for medical attention.

According to him, the six corpses have been deposited at the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lokoja.

“We learned the the truck from Bauchi was head to Enugu state before the unfortunate incident that occurred around Zone 8 round about i. Lokoja, Kogi, ” Oyedeji said.
