The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has urged the people of the state to intensify their prayers for the successful completion of the Ajaokuta Steel Project, as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu works towards its realization.

Governor Ododo made the call on Tuesday in Lokoja during a working visit to the Local Government Service Commission for a project inspection.

Describing Kogi as a state rich in natural mineral resources, Governor Ododo expressed confidence that the completion of the Ajaokuta Steel Project would bring significant benefits to both the state and its people.

He commended the chairman the Chairman of the Commission,Alhaji Adams Adabenege and the staff for infrastructural development at the commission and encouraged its staff to support him to complete more projects.

Acknowledging the vital role of civil servants, Ododo reassured them of his administration’s commitment to improving their welfare.

Our correspondent, who covered the governor’s visit to the Commission, reports that most of the Commission’s staff gathered to greet Ododo and his entourage with songs, praising him for good governance.

Available record shows that the Ajaokuta Steel Company, located in Kogi State, Nigeria, was established in 1979 with the aim of driving Nigeria’s industrialization through steel production.

By 1983, the project had achieved 84% completion, reaching 98% by 1994 but
despite these advancements, the plant remains  uncomplicated due to various factors.
However, under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, there is a renewed commitment to completing the Steel.

The President has demonstrated political will by creating a ministry dedicated to steel development and production, focusing on the completion and operationalization of the steel plant.
