A late-night fire on Friday destroyed a twin 3-bedroom flat on Al-Jazeera Street, near the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) in Tanke, Ilorin, kwara state.

He said,“Despite the late call, our team worked diligently to contain the fire and prevent its spread to nearby buildings.,”
He noted that the operation, which lasted several hours, required multiple water refills.
Unfortunately, the fire completely destroyed the flat and three rooms in the boys’ quarters. Preliminary investigations indicated that the blaze was caused by a power surge, according to him.
Also responding to the incident,Prince Falade John, Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, extended his sympathy to the affected residents and emphasized the importance of fire safety and timely reporting of emergencies.
“We urge residents to act quickly in reporting fire incidents and to adhere to electrical safety measures to prevent such tragedies. Timely alerts can save lives and reduce damage,” he said.

The incident, which occurred around 11:33 PM, prompted an immediate response from the Kwara State Fire Service.
However, much of the property was already engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived, due to a delayed alert, according to the Head of Media and Publicity for the Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle.
“Despite the late call, our firefighters worked tirelessly to extinguish the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby properties,” Adekunle stated.
The firefighting operation, which lasted for several hours, required the team to replenish water supplies multiple times. Sadly, the fire completely destroyed the flat and the three rooms in the boys’ quarters. Preliminary investigations suggest that a power surge caused the blaze.
The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John, expressed sympathy for the affected residents and emphasized the importance of timely fire alerts and electrical safety.
