Kogi Governor Explores Chinese Investment Opportunities For Industrial Growth

The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has taken a significant step toward fostering economic growth and industrial development by engaging with the Consular General of the People’s Republic of China in Lagos, Yan Yuqing.

The meeting focused on strengthening economic ties between Kogi State and China in key sectors such as agriculture, commerce, manufacturing, and infrastructure.

The Governor’s Special Adviser on Public Relations, Onogwu Muhammed, said in a statement that Governor Ododo highlighted the state’s vast potential and readiness to welcome Chinese investors.

According to him, the Governor emphasized Kogi State’s investor-friendly policies, particularly within the State Free Trade Zone and the proposed Industrial Park.

“With its arable land, rich mineral deposits, abundant water bodies, and strategic location connecting different regions, Kogi is primed to lead Nigeria’s industrial and agricultural revolution,” he said.

He further stated: “Our state is endowed with fertile soil and a favorable climate for large-scale farming and agro-industrial ventures. Additionally, our untapped mineral resources—including iron ore, limestone, and coal—make Kogi an ideal location for mining and manufacturing.

“We are committed to creating a business-friendly environment that attracts global investments for sustainable development.”

Governor Ododo also called for partnerships with Chinese sister cities to advance Kogi State’s developmental blueprint, stressing that collaboration is key to achieving shared economic goals.

In her remarks, Consular General, Yan Yuqing, expressed appreciation for Governor Ododo’s visit and lauded his vision for the state.

She reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening ties with Kogi State and announced plans to foster trade relations by linking Kogi with two major Chinese cities.

“We value this engagement and see great potential in the relationship between Kogi State and China. We are committed to enhancing trade relations and will facilitate smoother collaboration by streamlining visa processes for Kogi’s representatives,” she said.

the meeting represents a milestone in Kogi State’s quest for industrial and economic transformation.

The discussions lay the groundwork for future collaborations that promise mutual growth and sustainable development for both parties.

Governor Ododo’s proactive approach to exploring international investment opportunities underscores his administration’s dedication to creating a prosperous and industrially vibrant Kogi State.
