A group of students at the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, kogi state, north central Nigeria,says it has taken steps to address the recent tuition fee hike by engaging the university’s management in dialogue.
The group’s spokesperson, Lukman Onimisi, popularly known as Asiwaju CUSTECH, announced their plans on Thursday via his Facebook account.
He stated that the group aimed to understand the reasons behind the fee increment, explore potential reductions, and advocate for flexible payment options such as a 60% first-semester and 40% second-semester arrangement.
Our correspondent reports that the move by the group follows a flood of complaints and concerns raised by students and parents struggling to meet the financial demands amidst Nigeria’s challenging economic climate.
“Many are finding it hard to raise the required amount,” Onimisi remarked.
“As your fellow students, we share your concerns and are committed to working towards solutions that balance affordability with the university’s pursuit of excellence in education,” he assured.
Onimisi, however,acknowledged the efforts of the university management, emphasizing their dedication to quality education and improved facilities.
The group, which expressed optimism towards finding amicable solution to the issue, encouraged students not to lose hope, but explore all avenues to secure the funds.
“We believe education should be accessible to all. With determination and faith, we trust that God will provide for everyone,” he said.
