The Anti-Kidnapping, Human Trafficking, Child Abuse, and Drug Abuse Initiative (AKH-TRACADA), a Nigerian NGO, has condemned the recent attacks on Nigerian-owned businesses in Mozambique and urged the Federal Government to intervene swiftly.

In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, the Founder and Executive Director, Mr. Belonwu Ezeanyaeche, called on the Nigerian government to protect the interests of its citizens in Mozambique and other countries facing similar threats.

Ezeanyaeche noted that the attacks occurred amid ongoing political unrest in Mozambique, which led to the vandalization and looting of several Nigerian businesses.

He described the attacks as “unprovoked and unjustifiable” and stressed the need for immediate action.

“These riots, which have been ongoing for two months, escalated when we received information about another wave of riots scheduled from Tuesday, Dec. 3, to Friday, Dec. 6.

“It is concerning that Nigerian businesses are being deliberately targeted,”he said.

Ezeanyaeche who warned that further riots could follow, reiterated the urgent need for the Federal Government to act decisively.

“We cannot stand by and watch as our citizens are attacked and their businesses destroyed. We urge the Nigerian government to intervene immediately to protect the lives and livelihoods of Nigerians abroad,” Ezeanyaeche stated.

He also called on the government to pursue justice by ensuring that those responsible for the attacks are held accountable.

AKH-TRACADA and appealed to the United Nations and other international organizations to step in and ensure justice is served.

“The international community must not turn a blind eye to these heinous acts,” he stressed.

The attacks have sparked widespread condemnation from Nigerians and other Africans, who have urged the Mozambican government to safeguard the rights and interests of foreign residents.

AKH-TRACADA, a prominent NGO advocating for the welfare of Nigerians abroad, remains committed to ensuring the protection of Nigerian citizens worldwide.
