The Nasarawa State Governor and Chairman, North Central Governors’ Forum, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, has congratulated Comrade Alhassan Yahaya on his emergence as the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

In a letter signed by the Governor, he commended the peaceful electoral process that produced the new Executive Council (Exco), which will lead the Union for the next three years.

Governor Sule noted that Comrade Yahaya’s experience and broad perspective, and expressed confidence that his leadership would inspire NUJ members to excel in their roles as watchdogs and agenda-setters.

He emphasized the critical role of journalists in today’s Nigeria, noting their contributions to national discourse and their efforts in helping the country navigate its development challenges.

The Governor called for unity and support for the new Exco to ensure it effectively fulfills its mandate.

“Journalists are essential partners in development, playing a crucial role in fostering public discourse and serving as a vital feedback mechanism between the government and citizens. They deserve our collective respect and support,” Governor Sule stated.

He wished the new leadership a successful and impactful tenure.
