Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State visited the Adankolo IDP Camp in Lokoja on Tuesday to express sympathy with and distribute relief materials to families displaced by the recent floods in the state.
Accompanied by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Oyibo Salifu, and other top officials, the governor distributed essential relief materials to assist those affected.
During his visit, Ododo reassured the displaced persons of the government’s commitment to their welfare, promising continued support.
He thanked the Flood Response Team for their tireless efforts in providing aid and emphasized the importance of standing by the people during these difficult times.
The Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Moukhtar Atimah, commended the governor for his prompt response, stating that the visit had boosted morale at the camp.
One of the displaced residents, Abdul Isah, expressed gratitude, sharing how the governor’s visit brought hope amidst their struggles.
Currently, nine of Kogi’s 21 Local Government Areas have been affected by the devastating floods.
The state government has called on federal and international bodies for additional assistance.
