The Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has expressed deep sorrow over the passage of a veteran journalist, Comrade Matthias Omale, and described his death as a significant loss to the journalism profession.
The Chairman of the council,Alhaji Seidu Ademu Haruna and Secretary Comrade Olusegun Ayindero-Oyenibi,stated this in a statement they signed in Lokoja and a copy made available to The Reporters in on Tuesday.
The council said the deceased made substantial contributions to the Union’s successes in the state, adding that he played his role as a unifying force at both the National and State levels.
The council noted that the deceased, who was one-time Vice President of Zone D, would be missed for his meaningful impact at fostering unity, peace and love among members.
The council, which described described death as the end of all mortals, condoled with the immediate family and friends of the deceased and prayed God to grant all the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss of Comrade Matthias Omale as well as grant his soul rest in eternity.
The Reporters gathered that Omale,a retired Deputy Director of News at Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation,passed away peacefully at his Lokoja residence on Monday at age 60 years.
