Niger State will send 134 representatives to compete in the National Youth Games (NYG) hosted by Delta State from September 9th to 19th, 2024, in Asaba. The delegation will participate in 17 sporting events, including Taekwondo, Basketball, Tennis, Hockey, and Squash, among others.

The Niger State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Alhaji Yahaya Ibrahim Gulbin-Boka, who expressed confidence in a successful outing,in an interview in Minna, cited substantial financial support from Governor Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago.

Despite this, it was revealed that members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) will not be included in the delegation.

The Permanent Secretary, Nuhu Garba Nganski, and the Director of Sports, Alhaji Habibu Abdullahi Sheshi, confirmed the exclusion of SWAN from the arrangements and declined to specify the financial details approved for the event.
