The Rivers State Governor, South South Nigeria,Sim Fubara, has urged the police force in the state to remain apolitical and uphold professionalism in their duties, warning that partisan behavior could irreversibly damage their ethical and professional standing.
During the presentation of 100 operational vehicles to Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, at Sharks Stadium in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Governor Fubara emphasized that the donation was a gesture of appreciation from the Rivers State Government to enhance the police’s crime-fighting capabilities.
The Governor stressed the critical role of mobility in effective policing and assured that additional support, including more sophisticated vehicles, would follow.
He emphasized the importance of the police being impartial and dedicated to protecting the lives and property of Rivers State residents.
Governor said,“Since your appointment, my request has been clear: protect lives and property and avoid partisanship.”
He cautioned Police against the pitfalls of partisan involvement, noting that such behavior often leads to disgrace and lasting negative consequences and advised officers to build a legacy of integrity so that their contributions would be remembered positively, even after their service ends.
“The essence of your role is to safeguard the community, not to engage in political favoritism.
“Politics will change, but your actions will leave a lasting impact,the governor reminded the police.
He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to supporting the police but emphasized the need for collaboration to ensure public safety and freedom in Rivers State.
Receiving the vehicles, the Commissioner of Police in the state,CP Olatunji Disu, expressed gratitude for the governor’s generous donation.
The CP, described the gesture as a significant boost to the police’s operational capacity, assured Governor Fubara of the police force’s dedication to combating crime and upholding the rule of law in the state.
