By Daniel Peters in Abuja.

The Federal government has been urged to create an additional State, Anioma, in South East Nigeria to be at par with other regions.

Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, re-echoed this appeal during a meeting with members of Nigeria Diaspora Organisation Africa, who paid him a courtesy visit in Abuja.

He stated that this would expedite the process of healing in the South East for equity, fairness and Justice.

According to him, the agitation for the creation of Anioma State has been on for over 50 years, and this will correct the critical fundamental problem in the geopolitical zone.

Senator Nwoko, who is a member of the NASS Committee on Constitution Review, pleaded with well meaning Nigerians to support the creation of Anioma State, so as to make the South East zone an equal stake holder in the Nigeria project.

Senator Ned Nwoko, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Reparations and Repatriation, canvassed support for Diaspora Voting and ensured that some elective positions are given to the Diaspora.

While thanking the Senator for the warm reception and hospitality during the visit, the Chairman, NIDO Africa, Prof. Jude Osakwe, pledged total support for the creation of Anioma State.

Prof. Osakwe explained that the agitation for the State creation has long been overdue.

The high point of the visit was a presentation of books on Human Trafficking and a Plaque for his quality representation at the Senate.

Other members of the entourage include NIDO Chairmen in Zambia, Lesotho and Senegal as well as Prof Williams Ijoma and Barr. Jude Ibeshi.
