Kogi govt.commences construction of perimeter fencing at CUSTECH, Osara, Police barracks, Okene.

Kogi State government has commenced the construction of a 100-hectare perimeter fence at Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara and a Police Barracks, Okene.

Information Officer, State
Ministry. of Housing and Urban Development, Lokoja and a copy made available to The Reporters on Sunday.

According to her,the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Abanika Taiye, while handing over the sites to contractors on June 28, 2024, pointed out that the projects were aimed to enhance security in the state, following the abduction of students on May 9, 2024.

The Commissioner Taiye praised Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s swift response to the incident and his commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens,adding that the perimeter fencing project would be completed within 6-9 months.

The State Consultant, Engr. Suleiman Kabiru, who explained that the perimeter fencing would include facilities that would ensure “a perfect security architecture” for the university, commended the Governor for his proactive approach to security.

Contributing,the Vice-Chancellor , (CUSTECH), Prof. Abdulrahaman A. Salawu ,expressed gratitude to Governor Ododo for his prompt response to the security concerns.

The Commissioner also commended Governor Ododo’s efforts to make Kogi State safe for its citizens through the construction of the Police Barracks in Okene,the hub of economic and socio-political activities in Kogi Central.

The contractors: RSA Global Investment Limited and MUSALIB INVESTMENT LIMITED, assured that they would complete the projects within the stipulated time frame.

This development demonstrates Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s commitment to prioritizing security and the welfare of Kogi State citizens, the commissioner added.

The Reporters recalls that many students of the university were abducted by kidnappers during the at the institution.

While all of them have been rescued through the efforts of the state government and security agencies, two students lost their lives.
